On March 27, 2025, CERIS (Community for European Research and Innovation for Security) organized thematic workshops and demonstrations of innovative technologies for European first responders. On this occasion, Sysnav, together with the Synergise consortium, presented its indoor/outdoor and 3D location technology for first responders in action.
A solution tested by first responders
During these demonstrations, Sysnav allowed first responders to test its GPS-independent, infrastructure-free indoor/outdoor location technologies live. Several scenarios were tested:
- Real-time tracking of first responders’ progress in a building
- Locating first responders in distress and their care by rescue teams
During these tests, Sysnav, in collaboration with other companies in the Synergise consortium, provided a group of first responders with a solution for viewing the positions of people involved in the operation in 3D and in real time.
During these tests, Sysnav devices provided the exact location of first responders, demonstrating their effectiveness in realistic conditions.
In addition to these scenarios, SYSNAV’s location technology is a key asset for first responders during their operations. Its primary purpose is to ensure their safety and rapid response in the event of an incident, but it also facilitates coordination during first responder operations and enhances their effectiveness through real-time visualization of location data.
SYSNAV’s innovative location technology for first responders
Sysnav, a French company specializing in infrastructure-free and GPS-free navigation, has developed indoor/outdoor geolocation technologies that do not require GPS, based on motion capture and magnetic field exploitation.
These solutions enable precise location of responders in the absence of satellite signals, both indoors and outdoors, which is a crucial advantage in complex environments (interiors, basements, etc.) or disaster areas.
Conclusion on the CERIS demonstration
The CERIS workshop highlighted the importance of technological innovations in strengthening the capabilities of first responders in Europe, with solutions such as Sysnav’s offering promising prospects for crisis and emergency management.
