The genesis of SYSNAV
Born from the union of the best French expertises, SYSNAV bears an ambitious project which rapidly convinced the scientific community.
SYSNAV was founded in 2008, from the scientific collaboration between engineers trained at LRBA – the center for expertise of Ministry of Defense in the domain of guidance and navigation – and the research centers in MINES-ParisTech, an engineering school of international reputation.
In few years, a revolutionary navigation method is set up. In 2007, it is awarded the prestigious Innovation Prize of Délégation Générale pour l’Armement. It allowed to register straight away several patents and won the support of numerous experts in navigation, who decided to launch a team devoted to MEMS sensor-based navigation.
Aiming at answering increasing needs from the civilian and military worlds, SYSNAV was born from the encounter of the best experts in navigation, to develop a unique expertise in France and internationally. Very quickly, several prizes scored the realizations developed by SYSNAV, which asserted itself as an essential actor in tomorrow mobility.
An expertise and a vision of navigation
Finding solutions to GPS flaws is a paramount issue for today and tomorrow mobility.
Since the beginning of the century, access of the general public to GPS has deeply modified the perception of positioning and navigation. It has become hardly conceivable to be unable to locate oneself.
However the current means for positioning reveal vulnerabilities: GPS is insufficiently available, easy to jam, imprecise and useless indoors (malls, metro, forest…).
Today GPS remains an unsatisfying solution for many users.
For escort and transport of value, for an individual, a soldier or a disabled people, loss or imprecision of a location information may have severe consequences.
To guarantee the precision and continuity of the signal in every circumstances (tunnels, cities, forests…) is a major challenge for the critical applications.
Some solutions exist, based on heavy and expensive technological choice (airliner navigation), but in terms of cost, mass, bulk and energy consumption, they are unadapted to the needs of the current civilian needs.
With the benefit of its know-how in inertial and electromagnetic navigation, SYSNAV develops an innovative localiztion system, operating even in case of extended loss of GPS signal. SYSNAV already registered several patents which testify to and strengthen the major advances of its R&D.
Today, the solution proposed by SYSNAV represents the only technological alternative to GPS which does not necessitate preliminary installation.
The technical expertise gathered within its teams endows SYSNAV with the capacity of going on finding new solutions allowing to get rid of the current technological limitations.
For the transport of values, for an individual, for a fireman or for a disabled person, loss or imprecision of location information can lead to disaster.
